joy?
i had an interview last week for an internal position. i didn't do well; in fact, i don't think i deserve the position. moreover, i didn't feel any peace or confirmation from God. even when i prayed and asked for a peace of mind, i never really have it. recalling back when i first got this job in march of last year, i knew what God had prepared for me. i could feel the Spirit assuring me from the time i didn't have any plan and was misserable to the time when someone referring me the job. i was confident that i will get the job and i didn't even prepare for the interview nor pray about it. i knew i prayed enough already and i was sure of His plan. Furthermore, i knew many people had prayed for me and those were the people which i trust God would answer their prayers. That was the calmness and assurance i had from God before but not this time. i dunno what the result is going to be as i am still waiting for it but i know He prepares for me eventually when i do my part.
right now everything seems to be fine and well. the sermon from last sunday was about joy. rejoice in the lord always and through prayers and petition and thanksgiving, he will provide us with peacefulness and will guard our hearts and mind in Jesus. right now when things are going well, i can be joyful and thankful. my parents are doing fine and healthy; ding and i are good; job's stable. what more could i ask for. but what about things doesn't go well relatively speaking. these scenerios can change easily and quickly with just a blink of an eye, like the tsunami. i can't imagine how my first few days would be like when my parents were not here; or when ding didn't come back; or when i got fired from my job. this can happen any time, any day, or any minute. every time when i think about how and when these days are going to come, i feel like crying. could i be joyful and rejoice in Him? would i still be thankful? it would be really difficult. as a matter of fact, this is just some cheap philosophily or spiritual experience or questions that we hear or being asked all the time. but have we ever gotten a chance to just sit down and think about these questions? have you ever think about you, urself, being a tsunami victim? all your closest relatives that you were born with, all your properties and dreams and savings and happiness that you spent your whole life working for, all gone. rejoice in the lord? i'm not sure. what's after that?
Heaven and earth will fade; but His Word will still remain. when all's gone, He is the only one that is left for us to hang on to. He is the only one that worths to hang on to for the rest of our lives.
